  • Requirements

    Flexible Solution from one Hand

Many of the internal processes at Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden have been handled manually or outsourced to external service providers. This meant a lot of time, associated with error susceptibility and additional costs. The aim of automating these processes is to simplify, accelerate and optimize them. In addition, new services for customers are to be created. In the search for the appropriate technology, a number of basic conditions had to be observed – such as compliance with and implementation of the IT security requirements of the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), compliant development and operation according to the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS), as well as disclosure, inspection, validation (PIP5) and acceptance of the complete source. code including related external software packages opposite the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden. Secure access to Sparkasse Cologne-Bonn’s accounting system is only possible when these requirements are met.

  • Solution

    Open Source-Based Robotik-Solution

In joint workshops, T-Systems MMS first supported the Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden in selecting tools and prioritizing use cases. During the subsequent Proof of Concept, T-Systems MMS was able to convince with a flexible RPA open source solution based on the programming language “Python. ” As a result, a development project for other Python robots was developed. The bots used are operated with a bot administration tool (BAT) developed by T-Systems MMS, which enables the scheduling and monitoring of the bots. A bot supports the Sparkasse already during the legitimation process. Here, RPA is used to automate ID card scanning and archiving. The identification data scanned by employees is sent to a functional mailbox, which is tracked by an RPA bot. The bot starts the optical character recognition of the scanned ID data. These are then compared with the customer data already available in the system. In this way, the scanned document can be automatically assigned to the right person in the system and archived. The automation of further applications such as the accounting of post-returns is already planned. For the robotics solution, Sparkasse has signed a long-term operating, maintenance and service contract with T-Systems MMS. All applications are hosted on the savings banks' own servers with the internal core OSplus system.

  • Benefit

Reducing the Burden of Routine Work With Higher Quality and Efficiency

The automated process solutions guarantee a big increase in quality - while manual document comparisons, for example, are error-prone, the bot can operate at a high speed with a significantly lower error rate: it now stands at 5 percent. At the same time, the savings bank employees are relieved of their workload and are able to focus on strategic issues and more complex activities. This not only saves time, but also costs, as there are no costs for service providers and licences. Thanks to open source, it was also possible to avoid an additional technology build-up. The conception, development, maintenance and operation of the bots are also handled by a service provider. By automating business processes, Ostsächsische Sparkasse Dresden is demonstrating its strong capacity for innovation, consolidating its leading position in the use of new technologies within the savings banks network and thus actively contributing to its future sustainability.
