Reference overview

Task

Replace the on-premise intranet and migrate to the new cloud-based solution, implement a Group-wide, unified intranet

Solution

Cloud-based Intranet with SharePoint Online as Software-as-a-Service

Result

Significantly improved communication and collaboration across locations

  • Requirements

Migration of the Intranet Onto the Cloud

ASK Chemicals previously had a central and global intranet based on SharePoint on Premise. The existing intranet was to be migrated to the new SharePoint online application as part of the Office 365 rollout. At the same time, new, modern functionalities were to be introduced. T-Systems MMS supported ASK Chemicals in this task.

  • Solution

    SharePoint Online as SaaS Solution

The introduction of the new intranet proceeded in phases: In the discovery phase, T-Systems MMS first developed a minimal viable product, an initial minimal functional prototype, in order to gather initial user feedback that could be incorporated into further development. In the design phase, the hub structure and an authorization concept were created. The individual subpages of the intranet were initially equipped with the basic functions. T-Systems MMS also provided ASK Chemicals with strategic advice on content strategy. The rollout was carried out globally in multiple languages and after just three months. The latest technologies were used to make optimum use of the licensing options. The new collaborative intranet has been well received by the company's international workforce. Users at the company's sites in Germany, Spain, the Czech Republic, Brazil, the People's Republic of China, Japan, Korea and the USA regularly use the new platform.

  • Benefits

    Simplified Communication Across National Borders

Collaboration and, above all, internal communication among the approximately 1,500 employees worldwide now benefit from the new intranet. The German and English languages in particular ensure a high level of acceptance. The central, uniform tool also ensures better networking of the individual sites and greater transparency in communication. The cloud-based solution also promises a high level of fail-safety, improved performance and a high level of user-friendliness. With the new intranet, collaboration at ASK Chemical thus gains a new quality in the sense of New Work, while productivity and efficiency increase at the same time.
