To inform service technicians about current news and events. The app was well received by the target group and the INKOMETA Award jury also showed its enthusiasm with an award on May 2nd, 2018 in Düsseldorf.
The INKOMETA Award for successful internal communication was presented at a gala event in Düsseldorf on 2nd May 2018. T-Systems Multimedia Solutions'"Service Dialog App" was awarded first place as "Best Employee App 2018" in the "Media" category. So this month is the reward for an idea that started two years ago. A total of 19 prize winners were honoured in the categories Strategy, Media, Campaigns and Digital Workplace.
Employee app creates proximity at a distance
Deutsche Telekom wanted to involve its large team of sales representatives in customer service more in internal communications. Always on the road with less time, without a fixed desk, the internal communication plan is usually a foreign area for field staff. Deutsche Telekom wanted to tackle this problem and sought a mobile solution to integrate its field technicians into internal communications from any location. Sven Lindenhahn's team from the Cloud Computing and Social Collaboration department has therefore developed the "Service Dialog App" based on the SaaS solution Staffbase. Around 7,000 field staff members were invited by e-mail to use the app. It soon became clear that the app would not only exist in theory as a communication channel: after one year, 96 percent of the invited sales representatives were registered and the interaction compared to the intranet was 300 percent higher. To date, more than half of the users open the app daily. A total of approx. 9,200 users have already registered.
Read, discuss and comment: More than 22,000 comments were made in the first year. The app shortens communication channels and simplifies processes. The team spirit is also strengthened, because colleagues often don't see each other in the field for a long time. The local distance can thus be minimized somewhat by the app. The app is always available as an exchange platform - in the form of a team chat, a blog and a news platform. Above all, the subject channels that can be subscribed to are very popular with employees. There, employees are informed directly as soon as an update is pending on all measuring devices, a new product is marketed or a new function is activated on Entertain.

Successful internal communication is a broad field and no easy task. The INKOMETA Award was created by the SCM, the School for Communication and Management, to honour special achievements in this field. In a complex two-stage selection process, the submissions must prove themselves from the professional quality to their effectiveness. Entries can be submitted in the categories Strategy, Media, Campaigns and Digital Workplace. It should be noted that despite many entries this year there was not a winner in all categories. T-Systems Multimedia Solutions was thus able to assert itself as the deserved winner with the "Service Dialog App".
