The task.
We have developed T-Com´s central intranet named „ComIn“. The intranet displays the information for all department and branches customized. The goal was to create user-friendly, web-based workplaces which meets the requirements of company and employees as well as to contribute to the value added. In 2005, the 2nd phase of the project, T-Com decided to have us design the editorial system barrier-free and ergonomically. Furthermore, the employees´ access should be simplified.
The solution.
We began with the development of the CMS for ComIn in 2003. A few months later we already were able to fill it with content. In order to avoid an information satiation, the portal software Tibco was installed which is able to recognize users and customize content.
At the beginning of 2005 we relaunched ComIn, as we wanted to provide the editors with a webbased editor which works independently from the installed components of the client calculator. In other words: The system should not be threatened by the rising number of editors and should not suffer from breakdowns. In July 2005 ComIn has been migrated from CoreMedia CAP4.0. to the at that time newest version of the CMS CoreMedia CMS2005. This process only took 7 months.
Customer benefit.
T-Com is appoaching ist´ goal to offer their employees a web based working place. Already today all necessary information can be found in ComIn. Thanks to the customization, the user always keeps an overview over the content he needs for his work.
Furthermore, the central operating of the intranet ensures a major cost saving and the benefit of synergy effects compared to the former heterogeneous intranet. A vast majority of department and branch intranets has already been switched off, so costs cut be cut even more; the remaining few shall be shut off gradually. ComIn has become a great support for the employees due to the fast and consolidated information retrievement.
