FC Schalke 04: website relaunch
The task.
FC Schalke 04 is the 2nd largest sports club in Germany with over 55000 members. The website relaunch should raise the monthly page impressions significantly. The user and fan loyalty should be increased and new users attracted. Via premium membership and a shop the club aspired a further sales generation.
The solution.
The first step was to adjust the CMS Typo3 to the internal operations of the online editoral office. The editors´ reeducation occurred in several steps, whereas the bulk of questions was answered via telephone support. The website enhancement regarding Schalke´s individual needs took place via programming of own extensions. For example, a plugin for the club area and an application for the Bundesliga statistic recordal were implemented.
Another modul is the news administration, which allows an unrestricted placement of information on the welcome page, which formerly was only possible chronologically. With the implementation of a newsletter modul emails could be collected and administered. Due to the high traffic a high-performance application was to be configurated. This was achieved by several tests and improvements, partially live.
Customer benefit.
Schalke´s new web presence provides an eligible support of acquiring and bonding fans. The club gains improved knowledge about Schalke supporters by collecting their data in the club area and using them for further online activities and trend detection. As a result, the website now is a foundation for specific online marketing activities for fans.
